Mount Calvary Lutheran Church provides after-school programming and youth ministries.  This year they have offered the following programs for our students.

  • Martial Arts - Afterschool program for students interested in practicing martial arts.
  • Hip Hop - Afterschool program for students interested in dancing.
  • Ignite Youth Group - Sundays mornings full of church, games, and bible study.

Mount Calvary Lutheran Church

Mount Calvary Lutheran Church offers many programs for adults, youth, and children!  You are always invited to our 9AM worship service on Sunday mornings.  It is also available through live stream on the church website.

Pastor Dan Czaplewski is the head pastor and is very connected to the community.  You may always reach out to Pastor Dan if you need anything.  He says, "If you are struggling right now, I want you to know that there is hope for you in Jesus Christ. If you don't know what that means for you, I would love to have the opportunity to talk more."

Community Minister and Youth Director, Ben Piering, has many service activities and ministry events available for youth.  His youth ministry is for 6-8th graders.  He also hosts many summer programs and open gyms during the school year.

Other programs available through the church include the Women's Missionary League, small groups, and MCCD.

Mount Calvary Community Development Corporation (MCCD)

This is a non-profit started by Pastor Dan managing two community gardens by training youth and using the food to support the hospital, other non-profits such as UpStart Kitchen, and the people in the community.

MCCD was born after going into the community and asking what needs they saw. Two needs were identified. First, people need jobs and second, kids need something constructive to do. That was where MCCD was born. MCCD aims to help young people develop the skills to find and keep jobs both as young workers and into their futures, while bettering the community.  They are dedicated to create a community of youth and young adults who are confident that their hopes, dreams, and aspirations can be a reality through the grace of God.  To get involved, you can email Pastor Dan at pastorc@mtcalvary-cdc.org.

  • Provide soft job skills training, character development, and part time employment to Sherman Park area youth (ages 14 to 18).

  • Provide experiential education in growing and cooking fresh vegetables to community members with the aim of promoting community health.

  • Provide locally grown produce for use in St. Joseph’s Hospital and in the community at-large.
